New single, FOREIGN LAND out 2nd February

2 Feb 2023
I wrote this song as a reflection on my personal experience as a migrant growing up in regional Queensland, and have also taken inspiration from stories of other migrant families who have crossed the seas in search of a better life abroad.
It’s a song about having hopes and dreams in a new place, and the feeling of finally finding your feet and achieving something through hard work and persistence. It is a theme I feel all migrants can relate to in some way – whether it’s moving to another country, state or city.
I was born in the Philippines and migrated to Australia when I was 3 with my Filipino mum and Australian Dad to Rockhampton, Queensland. Rockhampton, like many Australian cities is a highly multicultural community with a huge variety of ethnicities – I’ve never felt out of place here, but I’m only one of thousands of stories out there waiting to be told. I hope this song can be a starting point for people to want to share their migrant stories too.
Thank you all so much for listening & watching – Angelo
